Barbara Hyman was born in Philadelphia, and is now a New York, and Key West based painter.
After receiving her B.A. in Art History from West Chester University in Pennsylvania, and Barbara continued her studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and the Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia, Pa.
Barbara studied privately at the Atelier of Daniel Bennet Schwartz, NYC, The National Academy of Design, NYC, the Art Students League of New York, and the Saci School, Florence, Italy. She is also Certified in Appraising Fine Art.
Selected Awards Include: First Place Honor of Distinction in Still Life, National Academy of Design, Award of Excellence for Portraiture, ALLI. Her portrait of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor was exhibited in the Smithsonian National portrait Gallery, Washington,DC. Barbara is an alumnus of the “Painting Group of New York” founded by Aaron Shikler and David Levine.
Barbara Hyman’s paintings and drawings hang in collections in Pennsylvania and New York.
